Social Media and Marketing Intern: CWS

Job Summary: The Social Media and Content Intern is responsible for developing and executing social media strategies for the TRIO Upward Bound social media sites which includes creating engaging content, and managing various digital platforms to enhance the online presence and brand awareness of the college. This position will promote events, programs, and initiatives while maintaining a consistent voice and brand identity across all channels.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy to increase brand visibility, engagement, and followership.
  2. Create, curate, and schedule content for social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and others as needed.
  3. Monitor social media trends, analyze performance metrics, and adjust strategies to optimize reach and engagement.
  4. Engage with followers, respond to comments and messages, and foster community interactions to build relationships and increase UB's social media presence.
  5. Produce high-quality written and visual content, including posts, articles, graphics, photos, and videos, that reflect the college's values and resonate with the target audience.
  6. Coordinate with other departments to gather content, stories, and updates to share on social media platforms.
  7. Stay updated on best practices, emerging technologies, and industry trends in social media and content marketing.
  8. Monitor and manage the college's online reputation, addressing any issues or concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  9. Collaborate with student ambassadors or interns to generate user-generated content and increase student engagement on social media.
  10. Assist with other marketing and communication tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Current enrollment in a college or university program, preferably with a focus on marketing, communications, digital media, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, trends, and best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and creativity.
  • Proficiency in graphic design, photography, video editing, and other multimedia content creation tools.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer, Sprout Social) is a plus.
  • Demonstrated passion for storytelling, content creation, and digital marketing.
  • Previous experience in social media management, content creation, or digital marketing is preferred.

Front Desk Assistant: CWS

Job Summary: The Front Desk Assistant plays a key role in providing administrative support and excellent customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors at the college's main reception area. This position serves as the first point of contact for inquiries, assists with various clerical tasks, and contributes to the smooth operation of the office.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Greet visitors, answer phone calls, and respond to inquiries in a friendly and professional manner.
  2. Provide information about college programs, services, events, and campus resources to students, faculty, staff, and guests.
  3. Assist with scheduling appointments, meetings, and events, and maintain appointment calendars as needed.
  4. Manage incoming and outgoing mail, packages, and deliveries, including sorting, distributing, and logging packages.
  5. Perform general clerical duties such as photocopying, scanning, filing, and data entry to support office operations.
  6. Monitor and maintain the cleanliness and organization of the reception area, including tidying up and restocking supplies.
  7. Assist with special projects, events, and other duties as assigned by the Office Manager or supervisor.
  8. Uphold confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  9. Collaborate with other departments and colleagues to ensure efficient communication and coordination of tasks.
  10. Adhere to college policies, procedures, and guidelines related to office administration and customer service.

Qualifications:

  • Current enrollment in a college or university program, preferably with a focus on business administration, office management, or a related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer service-oriented mindset.
  • Professional demeanor and the ability to maintain composure in fast-paced environments.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and email etiquette.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in performing clerical tasks and handling administrative duties.
  • Dependability, punctuality, and the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Previous experience in customer service, receptionist duties, or office administration is desirable but not required.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new responsibilities and procedures.

This College Work-Study position offers flexible scheduling and valuable hands-on experience in office administration and customer service within a collaborative and supportive work environment.

Saturday Instructor:

*This is a temporary position.

Looking for instructors in the following areas:

  • ACT/SAT
  • English, Literature, Creative Writing/Grammar
  • Mathematics: Algebra I through IV, Geometry and Pre-Calculus
  • Biology, Chemistry or Physics
  • Foreign Language: Spanish, French or Arabic
  • Counseling (Group classes in social development, career assessment & interest, College preparation, etc.).

Job Description: 

  • Responsible for coordinating, facilitating and submitting a class syllabus, class objectives and maintaining student records (attendance, disciplinary actions, evaluations, tests, quizzes, and exams) in the following disciplines:
  • Must attend required weekly meetings with the program director and coordinator.  
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 

  • A college degree and certification in the area of instruction or counseling.
  • Teaching and/or counseling experience (high school and college.)
  • Demonstrated expertise in teaching/counseling the program's target population (9-12th grades).
  • Ability to plan and coordinate activities and to conduct classes in an interesting, fun, and productive learning environment.
  • Regular, consistent attendance is mandatory. 
  • Excellent communication, written, and verbal skills required.
