German
German 1 A/B
As with all Edmentum world language courses, German 1 A and B address two primary issues: providing a meaningful context that encourages learners to think in the target language as much as possible; and introducing grammatical concepts without over reliance on grammatical analysis. German 1A focuses on communicating basic and practical greetings and personal information. German 1B consists of five units over about 14 weeks, with an emphasis on a variety of practice types throughout the course.
German 2 A/B
According to The Economist and the Census Bureau, German-American is America's largest single ethnic group, with over 46 million Americans claiming German Ancestry. German 2 A and B tap into learners' latent interest in their cultural past, present, and future. These courses employ directinstruction approaches, including application of the target language through activities. Each unit in the course includes a predefined discussion topic. These discussions provide an opportunity for discourse on specific topics in German.
