Wayne State University Graduate School and McNair Scholars program is very pleased to announce its first national McNair Scholars Research Conference scheduled for August 5th-7th 2010. This summer conference will be a great chance for your McNair scholars to present their research while offering them an opportunity to network with faculty from the 13 schools and colleges represented at Michigan’s only urban research university.
About the Conference
- Registration is only $125.00 per person and includes 2 nights on campus lodging and 4 conference meals
- Will give students the opportunity to share research with scholars from other universities
- Opportunity to network with prospective graduate faculty
- Graduate Departmental Visits facilitated by Wayne State University Graduate School
- Opportunity for students to be evaluated by peers
- Chance to take advantage of the many cultural opportunities in Detroit area.

Travel
Most guests will find it easiest to fly into Detroit Metro Airport which is located 20 miles west of Wayne State University. We are suggesting that our out of town guests rent a vehicle in order to navigate the city and all the exciting cultural attractions Detroit has to offer.
Public Transportation
Options may be found by visiting www.smartbus.org.
From Metro Airport Take Route 125 to Connection Route 610 or 615. Please check schedules and travel times.
Smart Busses may also transport Wayne State Guests to downtown activities via the Woodward Bus after 6pm Route 450-460.
You may reach SmartBus Route Planners Monday-Friday 6:30 a.m.- 6pm and Saturdays 7:30a.m.- 4pm by calling 1-866-962-5575.
Lodging
Students choosing to utilize complimentary lodging accommodations will be staying in Towers Residential Suites at Wayne State University.
Overnight guests must park in Parking Structure #2. This structure is open 24/7. The fee for overnight parking is $5.00 per night. Program Directors who indicated the need for parking to conference staff must pick up their authorized card at check in at Towers Building.

-Please note that all of those staying in our campus dorms should check into Towers Residence Hall Located on 655 W Kirby St, Detroit, MI 48202 BEFORE registering at Mcgregor Hall.
-You may park your car on Anthony Wayne Dr. next to Gullen Mall /Kerby Ave. for loading and unloading for up to fifteen minutes. We recommend all members of your party exit the car and check in to Towers as you will receive the necessary parking clearance for overnight parking in STRUCTURE #2 on your conference card from the Towers front desk (if you indicated you would be needing this).
- After you have checked in with lodging and dropped your things to your room, you may then proceed to conference venue McGregor. Please consult the attached link for a map of our campus highlighting the location of Parking Structure #2, Towers Residence Hall & McGregor.

Conference Proceedings
All students who submitted an abstract form may locate their presentation time and room upon arriving to campus.
Every session room will have both a projector and laptop supplied- Please bring your presentation on a flash drive.
We will be supplying Easels and Board for the Poster Presentations.
