Rising Scholars

The Office of Federal TRIO would like to recognize two of our McNair Scholars, Maricruz Moya and Karrington Seals in their academic achievements.

 Maricruz Moya, a senior in the McNair Scholars Program, won first place for her oral presentation at Florida International University’s McNair Research Conference, which took place in Miami, October 19-21, 2016.  The title of her research project was "How do Latino Children View Their Health?"  Maricruz was mentored by Dr. Noel Kulik, an assistant professor, in the Department of Health and Physical Education, in the College of Education. 

Karrington Seals, a Junior in the McNair Scholars Program, was recognized with the 2015-16 Academic Achievement Award.  To earn this award, a student-athlete must have completed a minimum of four semesters of college level work with a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher in addition to being an active member of an intercollegiate team during the past academic year. Karrington is a Biological Sciences major and a member of the Wayne State Women's Track and Field team.
